WAITING LIST

CALL BACK LIST

BENGAL KITTEN
WAIT LIST

and

call back list

As a dedicated Bengal cat breeder, we prioritize the well-being of our cats and the satisfaction of our future kitten owners. Our approach to managing inquiries and reservations reflects this commitment. When we have an expectant Bengal queen, we implement a committed Wait List agreement. This process ensures that those who are serious about welcoming a Bengal kitten into their home can secure their place in line for the next available litter.

In instances where we do not have a confirmed pregnancy but anticipate future litters, we maintain a call-back list. This allows potential Bengal kitten owners to express their interest without a formal commitment, ensuring they are among the first to be notified once a pregnancy is confirmed.

WAIT LIST

This is a formal agreement for those committed to purchasing a Bengal kitten. It's used when we have an expectant Bengal queen, securing a buyer's place in line for the next available litter with a deposit. If pick-order is important — you should enter this agreement immediately.

CALL BACK LIST

This is an informal list for potential buyers to express interest without making a deposit. It's used when there's no confirmed pregnancy, ensuring interested parties are notified first once a pregnancy is confirmed. NOTE: You can also be called if a Wait List buyer drops off.

The key difference lies in the commitment level and the timing of the pregnancy confirmation.

/ 02

WAIT LIST

The Wait List is NOT always open. It’s only ever open when I’ve confirmed pregnancy.

Ask for a Wait List agreement if:

  1. There is a confirmed pregnancy and you intend to adopt.
  2. You want to secure a specific place in the pick order.
  3. You want a 99% chance of adoption. I only accept one to four Wait List agreements before kittens are born.  If I open up the Wait List, it’s for good reason. I know kittens are due.

CALL-BACK LIST

The Call-Back list is always open. It’s a long list called in order of first callers to last.

Ask to be on the call back list if:

  1. You want to be notified when there’s a confirmed pregnancy.
  2. A Wait List agreement slot is vacated and you would like to be notified a kitten is available.
  3. You want to be on stand-by if any buyer backs out.

WAIT LIST and call-back list explained in detail

Here’s an easy but detailed explanation of our two distinct lists.

COMMITTED

WAITING LIST

YOU'RE INVESTED

WAITING LIST DEPOSIT

SUMMARY: You’re placed on an ordered ‘waiting list’. A Your $100 (refundable) deposit is accompanied by a signed agreement.

DETAIL: There are a few reasons you may choose to place a refundable $100 deposit. It assures you a kitten. It also sets your place in the pick-order when kittens are born (see below).

Some buyers want a specific sex and/or type  and willing to wait through multiple litters until a queen gives birth to the specific kitten they are in search of.

In every case, a signed “Waiting List Deposit Agreement”  assures you that your $100 is refundable up until day kittens are born. It is separate from our Bengal kitten sale agreement.

  1. Your deposit is FULLY REFUNDABLE up until the day prior to a litter being born.
  2. Your trust in us is backed by a written agreement of the deposit terms.
  3. You guarantee your place in pick order.
  4. Once kittens are born, your deposit can be rolled over to the next litter if you don’t find any kitten in the present litter acceptable.
  1. You could wait for months without a litter being born while we hold your deposit.
  2. You’re still not guaranteed a male, female, spotted, or marbled.

NON-COMMITTED

call-back LIST

YOU'RE ON-CALL

NO MONEY INVOLVED

SUMMARY: This list places you on-call when kittens become available and no one has placed a Wait List agreement deposit.

DETAIL: We go for periods of time with no kittens, and no pregnant females.

Suppose you’re not sold on exclusively buying a Bengal kitten from Iconic (Bengal Breeders). In that case, this choice leaves you to explore other options with other breeders. Meanwhile you’re information is added to an ordered call-back list.

Just consider while you may be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in order of our callback list — you may only be called (or emailed) as a courtesy to inform you we’ve received a full tally of waiting list deposits for all the kittens in the present litter.

  1. No commitment.
  2. You’re free to shop other catteries.
  3. You’re assured of follow-up when kittens are born.
  4. As kittens are born, first callers in are first callers contacted with the right of first refusal to commit to a full deposit.
  1. Waiting list deposits are ahead of you in pick order.
  2. Kitten availability may be reduced to zero by fully booked waiting list deposits.
  3. The non-committed on-call list is often extended to as many as 20 people. If you are #18, your odds of securing a kitten with us are low.

HOW LONG
IS THE WAIT FOR A KITTEN?

HOW LONG
IS THE WAIT FOR A KITTEN?

ESTIMATE WHERE YOU ARE IN THE PROCESS

Estrus, GESTATION, BIRTH, weaning...

It’s hard to keep up with demand when you are small and you know it’s going to stay that way. A $100 refundable deposit holds your pick position on unborn kittens. Once kittens are born, standard deposit terms apply.  Reviewed and signed agreements protect us all.

If you know you want a kitten and can wait, I let you know if and when my queen(s) is/are in heat.  The estrus cycle is known to be 4-7 days, however I have one queen that puts me through a solid 10 days of hell as she wails for a boy. The point is, we can fairly estimate when a litter is due, let alone IF one is due.

Request to be placed on my waiting list and I literally write down your name, phone number and email on a note pad and cross people off the list in order as I call them each with right-of-first refusal when kittens are born.

To be very specific, I call everyone before they are born to let them know a due date is imminent. Those calls filter out a few who are no longer waiting. You send your deposit when I confirm kittens are born and healthy. There’s some nuance to all this but it works fairly and in all the years I’ve bred Bengal cats for baby Bengal kittens, no one has been offended or short-changed in the process.

I’ll include some standard waiting list FAQs to further assist you to have a clear understanding.

4 — 7 Days

ESTRUS

A queen in goes into heat when the days are longer. More sunlight, not heat.

4 — 7 Days

63 — 68 Days

GESTATION

A queen shows at around 20 days. Approximately day 30 the Wait List is opened. Generally let’s me know she’s near the end of gestation as she starts to nest.

63 — 68 Days

24 — 48 Hours

BIRTH

From the moment the mother gives birth to the first kitten until the last kitten is delivered can be as long as a two day time frame. And it’s nerve-racking when that happens. It’s a rare occurrence. Most often a litter is born within a few hours.

24 — 48 Hours

8 — 10 Weeks

Weaning

It’s a fun time. You get pictures. Video. Okay, you’re right, we have most of the fun. But then you take delivery! Your family just grew! Got your names ready?

8 — 10 Weeks

How Long is a full wait for a Bengal kitten?

The entire wait for a Bengal kitten until birth would come in at no less than 77 days. That’s if you call and ask to be on the waiting list the day before a queen goes into heat.

Add the remaining 8 to 10 weeks and that’s roughly 56 more days of waiting.

Your total wait then is 133 days. That’s a little over four months.  To be exact it’s 4.4 months. Wow. When you think of it, you could be investing up to 1/3 of a year pacing the floor as an expectant parent. But don’t worry, few have had to wait that long. Historically, there’s usually a pregnant queen when you call or email asking that all too-familiar question.

WAIT LIST FAQs

The answer is yes with a caveat. The purpose of the Wait List agreement is assure you of a sale IF kittens are born. If kittens are not born, your money is refunded. If you ask for your money back before kittens are born, it is refunded. It's a written legal agreement to protect your money.

Yes and No. Yes, if you request the refund prior kittens being born. The agreement is met on the part of the breeder once kittens are born. Until that time, if you ask for a refund, it will be made within 7 days.

A Wait List deposit is attached to an agreement formalizing intent. The purpose is to assure you that IF kittens are born, you'll be sold one, and in specific pick order.

When a queen is approximately 30 days pregnant, I'm comfortable taking Wait List agreements. This is the earliest you can secure a Bengal from me. I generally start with two and as we draw closer to the due date, I'll take up to four Wait List agreements.

Its purpose is to give both parties assurance on promises. The breeder is promising a litter is due, and what pick the buyer will be in. It's even posted publicly here on the Iconic website.

The call-back list is a secondary waiting list and stand-by list.  We call or email everyone who requested a call-back when kittens are born IF there are any available kittens. Otherwise it is also a stand-by list for those who were too late to place a deposit on a kitten.

A deposit-based waiting list is necessary to offer both parties the strongest guarantee a legitimate sale is pending.

Only taking deposits after kittens are born is correct. That is in fact how we do business. The Waiting List Deposit is not a sale. When kittens are born, the Waiting List Deposit is added to the actual full deposit amount.

A waiting list deposit is intended for the soonest litter. It's also intended to keep the order among Buyers regarding who picks first, second, third, and so on. If however, you are not satisfied with any of the kittens that are available, we can move you to another litter waiting list.

People do drop off. Stay in touch. Or ask to be on the Call Back List. That stand by list has been used when the worst occurs with buyers who have sudden life changing emergencies and can't go through with their kitten adoption.

THE WAIT LIST IN THE SALE PROCESS

We welcome your interest in joining our waiting list for a kitten. To secure your place, we require a Wait List Deposit accompanied by a signed agreement. This deposit is fully refundable at any point before the birth of the litter. Upon the arrival of the kittens, the agreement is considered complete, and the $100 deposit is then applied towards the purchase of your kitten.

The sale process is outlined as follows:

Our Waiting List Deposit agreement clearly states that your deposit is fully refundable until the litter is born. We believe in providing peace of mind through written assurances, ensuring that your investment is secure.

Once the kittens are born, the Waiting List Deposit is applied towards the total deposit required under the purchase agreement.

If you’re ready to join our waiting list, please contact us via call or email. We will send you the Waiting List Deposit Agreement for your review. Upon your approval and the transfer of funds to our bank, you will have the assurance that both your money and expectations are in good hands.
